Nashville is home to some of the friendliest, warmest, most Christ like people I have ever met. Our team had numerous opportunities to listen to stories, testimonies and prayers from the people of Nashville. It was a privilege to serve the community of Nashville and share the love and heart of Christ with them. We participated in an activity called ATL or “Ask the Lord”. This activity incorporates listening prayer in order to see what kind of ministry the Lord calls us to do for that day. The Lord truly places special callings on our hearts and when He does, He meets absolutely every need to fulfill that calling! During our second day of ATL, the two groups designated for the ATL activity spent time in prayer and scripture seeking the Lord’s will for that day and asking Him what He has planned for us.

After their time in prayer, the groups got together and created an incredible project for the day. One of the projects was creating “Take What You Need” flyers to post around downtown Nashville to provide encouragement and hope to people in need. They look like an ad you would find on a bulletin board with slips of paper at the bottom that one could tear off and put in their pocket, wallet, etc. The participants came up with the words such as trust, patience, encouragement and the verses to coincide with those words all on their own which was evidence that God was going to do a mighty work through our team today.

Another project included passing out water bottles and bible verses to the people of downtown Nashville. With temperatures well into the 90’s, water was a necessity. The gratitude that the people had who received the water bottles made my heart so full of joy. The participants displayed their trust in the Lord, and pursued the calling God laid on their hearts without any fear or hesitation.

We all have lights inside each and every one of us, and we should strive on a daily basis to shine our lights in the darkest places of this world. Christ is the source of our light, and we need to shine in honor and glory for Him!
