I don’t think I could have predicted our ATL for today because God had something far beyond my imagination in store for our team today. We started out at Vanderbilt University sharing God with the students on campus. Then we moved to downtown Nashville where we walked around and passed out water bottles to the people we had the opportunity to meet during our time there. When we sat down to eat lunch, we got the privilege of meeting someone that only God could have placed in our path.
Chris was one of the most humble, devoted, Christ seeking individuals I have ever met. Even after knowing him for maybe 5 minutes, he shared parts of his testimony with our team that illustrated audacious faith and complete devotion to the Lord. After that, he informed us that he worked for the Nashville Rescue Mission which is located in the heart of downtown Nashville. The mission seeks to serve the homeless population of Nashville by providing them food, shelter, education and opportunities that they probably have never had before.
Chris offered to give our team a tour of the facility which took my breath away. From the chapel to the cafeteria to the classrooms within the facility, I knew God’s hand was involved in every aspect of the mission. One part of the mission that stood out to the team and I was something called the redemption wall which has photos of individuals that graduated from their life recovery program which targets individuals suffering from addictions and sins and offers them proper resources, classes, and therapy they need to overcome those addictions. To put a face with the name of these graduates was incredible and I gained a new sense of hope after hearing some of the stories of these individuals in the photographs.
God called each of these individuals to come on this trip and He deserves all the praise and glory!
