Nashville is a beautiful city. It is full of Southern charm and idyllic vignettes. It is also home to 11,000 homeless.

"The poor you will always have with you…" Matthew 26:11

Sitting in chairs with a stomach full of a good meal, hundreds of homeless sat to hear the gospel under a bridge in downtown Nashville.

Driving above were hundreds, if not thousands of unknowing citizens, oblivious to the hurting men, women and children below.

But God has not forgotten them.

The music played, the people praised, and lives were changed. Partnering with The Bridge ministries our Youth Adventures Encounter group got to see first hand the beauty of men and women coming to Jesus just as they are. For many of the kids there, this was the first time they had seen a homeless person, much less talked with them, hugged them or prayed with them.

The homeless were not the only ones whose lives were being touched under that bridge, Kids from Texas, Indiana, Virginia, and South Carolina, even this grown-up from Texas were all blessed by the beauty of the people we met under the bridge.

These men and women are the ones Jesus came for. These are the ones He calls us to love. The outcast, the lepers, the down-trodden. Love, that day in Nashville, looked like a hug, a smile, and a warm plate of food.

This is what Jesus meant.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in," Matt 25:35 NIV
