On Sunday, Nashville received two youth groups who were passionate to serve others and spread the word of God.

Yesterday, ministry day one, they split into two groups. One group served at the Nashville Rescue Mission while the other team went to Habitat for Humanity.

I was blessed to lead the Nashville Rescue team. They had the team split into three different groups to prepare lunch for the men who are in a nine-month program to get their lives on track. Then, they served 300+ men the lunch they had prepared.

While serving the men, a common theme was: poverty doesn’t discriminate.

There were men who looked the part with raged clothes and shower less looks. But there were also men who looked well groomed with washed clothes and bright smiles.

Despite their appearance, we all took home something important. Each one of those men we served was a person. Some had made bad decision after bad decision to get there. Others aged out of foster care without the knowledge of how to make it in the real world. But they were now in a place that gives them hope for today and hope for tomorrow because their basic needs can be met each day they are in this well thought out program.
